Southwest 9, Sweetwater 5--Southwest moved into a tie with Hilltop and Montgomery by scoring nine runs in the first inning off No. 8 Sweetwater, which won the AAA Division of the Lions Tournament last week by going 5-0.

Southwest sent 14 batters to the plate in the first and got six hit and five walks off three pitchers. Tony De la Torre (1-1) got the victory and was two for three with three runs batted in, and Ernie Negrete was two for four with two RBIs. Sweetwater fell to 14-5, 2-3.

Castle Park 10, Mar Vista 6--Castle Park (12-8, 3-2) scored nine runs on nine hits in the sixth as Jose Yescas had a bases-loaded single, and Jose Fimbres had a two-run single. Francisco Palacios went three for three and scored three runs.

Chula Vista 3, Bonita Vista 2--In the bottom of the eighth, Chula Vista’s Garland Phillips hit a bouncer back to the pitcher, who threw the ball away at the plate, allowing Mario Ayala to score the winning run. Chula Vista is 6-10-1.

City Central League

Crawford 11, San Diego 5--Second baseman Todd Davis went three for four with three RBIs and scored three runs to lead Crawford (12-4, 5-1). San Diego is 11-6, 4-2.

City Eastern League

Patrick Henry 5, Point Loma 4--With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, Johnny Dutra’s grounder up the middle drove home Scott Arlin with the winning run. Aaron Wauschek (2-0) went the distance, and Dino Distefano had a two-run homer for Patrick Henry (9-9, 3-3). Point Loma, which was tied for first with Mira Mesa entering the game, fell to 10-9 and 4-2.

City Harbor League

Coronado 12, Marian Catholic 7--Coronado jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and was never behind. The Islanders were led by Jason Fledderjohn, who went three for five and scored three runs, and Joel Franklin, who went three for five with four RBIs and was the winning pitcher. Coronado is 11-6-1 and 4-2. Marian Catholic is 5-10 and 1-5.
