COMMUNITY COLLEGE SWIMMING : Golden West’s Hadfield Sets National Record in Butterfly

Lisa Hadfield of Golden West College set a community college national record in the 50-yard butterfly at the state swimming championships Friday at Mt. San Antonio College.

Hadfield, a freshman from Westminster High School, set the record in 25.84 seconds. Suzanna Brown of Diablo Valley set the record at 26.36 in 1987.

Hadfield also was second in 200 freestyle Friday.

The Orange Coast women’s team leads after two days with 298 points. Diablo Valley is second with 263 and third-place Golden West has 150.

If OCC wins the title today it will the women’s second consecutive title and the fifth in the last six years.

In the men’s competition, Golden West leads with 365 points. Diablo Valley is second with 362 and OCC (332) is third.

Golden West won the 200 medley relay in 1:35.98 and OCC (1:37.98) was second. Chris Clark of Golden West won the 100 backstroke (52.23). Mike McNeff (54.72) of OCC was second and Matt Mauser (54.92) of Golden West was third.
