Cal Lutheran fell a run short of a berth in the NAIA softball championships Thursday when the Regals dropped the second game of their Bi-District 2 playoffs at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo.

The Regals (32-11-2) won the first game of the best-of-three series, 14-1, but lost the second, 4-3, forcing a decisive game against Adams State today. The winner advances to the 16-team national championships at the University of West Florida, May 17-19.

Cal Lutheran is vying for its third consecutive appearance in the national championships.
