Some of the players have changed since last year, but the teams remain the same for the Southern Section 2-A Division baseball championship game at 10 a.m. Saturday at Anaheim Stadium.

Defending champion El Segundo (27-3) and San Marino (22-2-1) will meet in a rematch of the 1989 final won by the Eagles, 7-4. They are gunning for their seventh CIF title and the school’s first back-to-back championships since 1965-66.

El Segundo qualified for its 10th appearance in a section title game in 31 seasons under Coach John Stevenson with a 7-1 victory Tuesday over St. Anthony of Long Beach at Cerritos College.

Senior right-hander Rob Croxall (10-1) went the distance for the victory, giving up three hits. He has three innings left this week under the 10-inning limit rule, meaning that El Segundo will probably start either right-hander Tate Seefried (7-1) or left-hander Jason Wayt (8-1) on Saturday.

Seefried, who also plays first base, continued his torrid hitting Tuesday with two doubles and three runs batted in. He has 50 RBI this season, eclipsing the school record of 48 set by Heath Jones in 1987.

Second-seeded San Marino, the Rio Hondo League champion, advanced to its fifth CIF title game with a 2-1 victory Tuesday over Yucaipa. San Marino has won two championships, the last one in 1984 in the 1-A Division.
