Point Loma 19, El Camino 0--Ninth-ranked Point Loma completed just three passes and made only five first downs, including one on a penalty, but still defeated last year’s 2-A section champions.
Tobin Gault completed three of 12 passes for 114 yards, including a 76-yard scoring pass to Shaunta Baker. Marlin Manassa carried 17 times for 91 yards and a 40 yard touchdown, and Alex Gresham returned a fumbled kickoff return 24 yards for the final score.
El Camino’s Juan Robinson rushed 16 times for 78 yards.
University City 38, Clairemont 7--Garrett Sand had touchdown runs of two and 13 yards as University City took a 29-7 halftime lead. In the second quarter, Saul Mendez caught a 56-yard pass from Tom Price to score Clairemont’s lone touchdown.
