Orange Lutheran 28, Houston Lutheran South 6--Phil Matheson scored two touchdowns, rushed for 82 yards and had an interception to lead host Orange Lutheran (1-0).

Quarterback Lenny Gavin, who completed four of eight pass attempts for 61 yards, scored on 26-yard run to start the second quarter. He also connected with Cory Fleming on a 34-yard pass with 7:14 left in the first half.

Brethren Christian 44, Capistrano Valley Christian 0--Quarterback Brandon Stott ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more as the visiting Warriors built a 20-0 lead in the first quarter at Laguna Beach.

Stott, the younger brother of UNLV quarterback Derek Stott, completed 16 of 26 passes for 189 yards. He scored on runs of one and 56 yards and threw touchdown passes of 40 yards to Tim Nichol and five yards to Tim Osborn. Running back Frank Brady, who scored on a two-yard run and a 25-yard interception return, had 105 yards rushing in 13 carries.
