Costa Mesa was no match for Los Amigos and the Mustangs fell, 31-13, at Garden Grove High School Friday night.

Los Amigos’ running back Derick Ragsdale, a senior, gained 127 yards in 32 carries to lead the Lobos (2-1). Eddie Benson added 80 as Los Amigos held Costa Mesa (1-2) to less than 50 yards rushing.

Costa Mesa scored first on a 44-yard pass from quarterback Ryan McEvoy to Jermaine Jackson and kicker Roy Serano added the extra point with nine minutes, seven seconds left in the first quarter to give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead.

It was not to last, however as Ragsdale, a 5-10, 160-pound back weaved his way through Costa Mesa’s defense. Ragsdale scored his first touchdown with 2:57 left in the first quarter on a four-yard scamp into the end zone.

After linebacker Matt McCready recovered a fumble for Los Amigos, Ragsdale scored again with 6:27 left in the fourth quarter.
