Luevanos’ Three Touchdown Passes Lead Brea to Victory

Quarterback Jason Luevanos threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Brea-Olinda High School to a 33-17 victory over El Dorado Friday night in a nonleague football game at Brea.

Paul Irvin accounted for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. His one-yard run with 7:08 left gave Brea (3-2) a 26-10 lead. He also caught a four-yard scoring pass from Luevanos with 1:22 left for the final score.

After El Dorado (1-4) took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter on a 26-yard field goal by Mike Roth, Brea took a 7-3 lead as Luevanos escaped a pass rush and raced 24 yards for a touchdown.

El Dorado took a 10-7 lead on a one-yard scoring run by Eric Ayala with almost seven minutes left in the half on fourth and goal.

Brea regained the lead for good with 1:30 left in the half after Lance Gasporra recovered an El Dorado fumble at the Golden Hawk 29. Three plays later, Luevanos completed a three-yard touchdown pass to Jamie Baraglia. Brea led, 13-10, after the extra-point try was missed.

Neither team scored in the third quarter, but with 9:16 left in the game, Luevanos completed a five-yard touchdown to Mike Ryan and Brea led, 20-10.
