In Century League girls’ volleyball:

El Modena 3, Orange 0--Marni Hitchburn had 10 kills and five aces for host El Modena (11-0, 5-0) in a 15-3, 15-1, 15-2 sweep.

In Empire League girls’ volleyball:

Cypress 3, Loara 1--Heather Lowe had 14 kills and eight blocks to lead Cypress (8-3, 5-0) in a 11-15, 15-13, 15-13, 15-7 victory at Loara.

Esperanza 3, Katella 0--Julie Greer had 15 kills and visiting Esperanza (3-6, 3-2) won 15-3, 15-5, 15-10.

Los Alamitos 3, El Dorado 1: Luann Petix had 11 kills as host Los Alamitos (4-1 in league play) won, 16-18, 15-10, 15-10, 15-7.

In Express League volleyball:

Garden Grove Claremont 3, Rolling Hills Prep 0--Rumi Aoki had 14 kills to lead visiting Claremont (3-8, 2-6) to a 15-9, 15-5, 15-12 victory.

In Sunset League girls’ volleyball:

Marina 3, Westminster 0--Cristin Rossman had 11 kills as Marina (10-2, 8-0) swept at Westminster, 15-1, 15-9, 15-13.

Ocean View 3, Santa Ana 1--Alnira Romero served on 14 points for Santa Ana but host Ocean View won, 15-9, 9-15, 15-13, 15-2, and kept the Saints (1-10, 0-8) winless in league play.

In Century League girls’ tennis:

Foothill 13, Canyon 5--Amanda Parson swept, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, to lead first-place Foothill (14-2, 7-0) at home.

In Garden Grove League tennis:

La Quinta 11, Pacifica 7--The doubles teams of Kris Quan and Quynh On (6-3, 6-1, 6-0), Becky Phillips and Khanh Tong (6-4, 6-0, 6-1) and Janet Tham and Thanh Chiem (6-3, 6-3, 6-1) each swept to help host La Quinta (4-9, 4-4) to its third consecutive victory.

In Sea View League girls’ tennis:

University 9, Saddleback 9--Host Saddleback lost the deciding set 7-6 (9-7 in the tiebreaker) and visiting University (11-3, 4-1) won on games, 73-72. Saddleback is 8-4 and 1-4.

In South Coast League girls’ tennis:

Irvine 10, El Toro 8--Freshman identical twins Milvia and Alessandra Schinaia swept their singles sets, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 for host Irvine (7-5, 3-2).

Capistrano Valley 13, Mission Viejo 5--Allison Light and Jenny Chang won their doubles sets, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, and Angie Arias and Lisa Shulga won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-3, for visiting Capistrano Valley (11-3, 4-1).

In the Sunset League girls’ tennis:

Westminster 9, Marina 9--Westminster stopped a league-losing streak that dates back at least five years when the Lions won on games, 84-80. Angie Tran won, 6-2, 6-2, and lost, 4-6, in singles and Jenelle Fletcher and Stella Tran won, 6-2, 6-3, and lost 6-7 for Westminster (7-7, 1-6). Westminster Coach Chris Sorce wasn’t sure of the last time Westminster won a league match.

In Pacific Coast League boys’ cross-country:

Laguna Hills 15, Laguna Beach 46--Chris Lynch ran 15:48 to win for host Laguna Hills.

In Pacific Coast League girls’ cross-country:

Laguna Hills 21, Laguna Beach 40--Freshman Heather McGlone won in 20:14 for host Laguna Hills.

In nonleague water polo:

Irvine 10, Valencia 4--Curt Bowman had five goals, Alex Kajitani and Logan Smith each had two goals and John Gotthard had 10 saves for host Irvine (12-8).
