CITY PLAYOFFS 3-A DIVISION : Poly Advances With 35-28 Win

Senior running back Jonathan Campbell rushed for 164 yards in 29 carries and scored three touchdowns as Poly High defeated previously undefeated Fairfax, 35-28, Friday night in a 3-A semifinal at Venice High.
Poly (10-3) will play Lincoln, a 43-6 winner over Belmont, in the championship game next Friday at East Los Angeles College.
The Parrots broke a 28-28 tie late in the fourth quarter by driving 67 yards in seven plays for a touchdown.
A 41-yard pass play from Lance Garcia to tight end Gerardo Munoz helped set up a three-yard touchdown run by Campbell with 1:18 left to play.
Raul Torres kicked the extra-point to give Poly a 35-28 lead.
On the ensuing series, the Lions (11-1) were unable to move past their 29-yard line and gave up the ball on downs with 20 seconds left.
Jermaine Pledger gained 46 yards in 14 carries for Poly.
Fairfax had tied the score with 4:28 left on a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Rahim Muhammad, who also ran for a two-point conversion.
Trailing 7-0 in the first quarter, Poly drove 60 yards in three plays. Campbell gained 46 yards in his first carry to set up his three-yard touchdown run two plays later.
Fairfax regained the lead early in the second quarter. On fourth and eight from the Poly 11, Muhammad completed a screen pass to Eduardo Payan, who scored to give the Lions a 14-7 lead.
