Mike Fisher scored 73 points, one short of the Southern Section record, in Southwestern Academy’s 101-67 nonleague basketball victory over visiting Pacific Christian of Los Angeles Monday at San Marino.

Nick Tenneriello of Colbert set the record of 74 against Brentwood during the 1967-68 season. Two others are tied for third with 70 points.

“I had no idea I was close to a record,” Fisher said. “I’ve shot better in other games.”

Fisher, a 6-foot senior guard, scored 19 points in each of the first two quarters and 12 and 23 points in the third and fourth quarters in Southwestern’s gym. He made 29 of 51 shots, two of them three-point field goals, and converted 13 of 16 from the free-throw line.

Since Southwestern’s other starting guard, Steve Sonsma, was injured, Fisher has scored 155 points in the last three games, including 43 of Southwestern’s 45 points in a loss to Valley Torah of North Hollywood. Fisher is averaging 39.3 points.

Southwestern Academy (2-5) is a four-year co-ed school with an enrollment of 90. Pacific Christian (1-5) has 130 students.
