Fire Seriously Damages San Fernando Building

Fire caused $1-million damage to a clothing factory in San Fernando on Tuesday night and injured one firefighter, Los Angeles fire officials said. The fire at Tailored Baby Inc. in the 500 block of West Library Street started about 7:30 p.m., said Jim Wells, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

More than 80 firefighters battled the blaze, which also caused minor damage to a neighboring building. One firefighter suffered second-degree burns to his wrist and neck and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The fire was extinguished at 8:54 p.m. Its cause was under investigation and a damage estimate was not available.

The blaze caused $250,000 damage to the building and $750,000 to its contents, according to reports.
