HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PLAYOFFS : Chatsworth Girls Ramble, 9-0

Dominance.

The word has become synonymous with the Chatsworth High girls’ soccer team.

The Chancellors are undefeated this season. They have won matches by lopsided scores. And their first-round City Section playoff match against outmanned, visiting Roosevelt became an exercise, well, in dominance.

Chatsworth played about 65 minutes of the 80-minute match on the Roosevelt side of the field and totaled 43 shots on goal--Roosevelt managed only two--in a 9-0 victory over the Roughriders.

In fairness to Roosevelt, it finished its season having played seven matches in a row without substitutes. With only 11 players suited up, the starters went the entire 80 minutes in each game.

“I’m the only one on the bench,” Roosevelt Coach Tina Rimer said.

Forwards Kris Bassler, Erin Barry and Laura Horn each scored two goals to help the Chancellors (16-0) move to the semifinals against Birmingham, a 4-1 winner over Garfield.

Bassler and Barry came within inches of scoring hat tricks. Bassler, who scored both her goals in the second half, knocked a shot off the crossbar. Barry scored once in each half and also had a shot carom off the crossbar.
