Central Arizona Wins in Softball at Golden West
Central Arizona, the defending National Junior College Athletic Assn. softball champion, defeated Chabot, 1-0, Sunday to win the Golden West Tournament in Huntington Beach.
La Mirada’s Dena Mullins, a member of the Orange County Batbusters club softball team, was named the tournament’s most valuable player. She pitched a two-hitter for Central Arizona (30-1) in a 1-0 semifinal victory over Cypress and drove in the only run in the championship game with a fifth-inning double.
Tricia Barr and Collene Conahan of Cypress and Tina Fuata of Orange Coast were named to the all-tournament team.
