Knight OKd as Hueneme Football Coach

Hueneme High Athletic Director Reg Welker said Thursday that Ed Knight, a candidate for the school’s vacant head football coach position, officially was approved by the Oxnard Union High School District in a meeting this week.

Knight, 51, had been recommended by Welker last week.

Knight, the head coach at Royal from 1972-77, will replace George Machado, who resigned in November. Knight has 13 years of head-coaching experience at Lake Elsinore, Baldwin Park and Royal.
