HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Cady Gets Section Record With Homer

Share

Grossmont High’s Todd Cady set the all-time San Diego Section hit record and tied the home run mark with one swing Tuesday in Grossmont’s 12-1 victory over visiting El Cajon Valley in a Grossmont 2-A League game.

Cady, a switch-hitter who was batting from the left side, deposited a 1-2 fastball from El Cajon’s Ray Garcia deep over the right-center field fence in the third inning.

“You hate one of those record-breakers to be a bunt single,” said Grossmont Coach Jeff Meredith, who estimated the blast traveled about 370 feet. “He left no doubt, he got all of it and then some.”
