Share

A bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch saved San Diego High and proved typical for Lincoln, which lost, 6-5, in a 10-inning City Central League baseball game Friday but outhit the Cavers, 14-5.

With the score tied, 4-4, Frank Guzman opened the top of the 10th with a walk and Josh Hoffman followed with a single, the only hit of the inning. The two were wild-pitched to second and third, then Guzman scored on a wild pitch.

Lincoln pitchers, who gave up four walks in the inning and 12 in the game, walked the next two batters to load the bases. Then Hoffman was forced home on a walk to Victor Ledon, making the score 6-4. Lincoln (7-13, 2-6) was able to counter with a a run in the 10th, but bad breaks cost the Hornets.

Andre Douglas, batting .530, sparked the Hornets with a four-for-six performance that included a home run, but Lincoln scored just twice after the second inning. San Diego improved to 16-6, 5-2.
