His teammates call him Muteman because he isn’t especially vocal, but Bowman’s success on the mound speaks for itself. Fully recovered from an injury to his pitching arm that sidelined him most of last season, he pitched three perfect innings Tuesday to save Esperanza’s 7-2 victory over Loyola in a section 5-A playoff game. The save gave Bowman 12 for the season, breaking the section record. After earning the win in Esperanza’s 9-8 victory over Baldwin Park in the quarterfinals to improve his record to 3-0, Bowman has won or saved 15 of the Aztecs’ 26 victories this season.
