AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Unbeaten Chatsworth Romps, 15-6

Two summers ago, the Chatsworth American Legion baseball program folded. This season, the team has the best record in its division.

Chatsworth remained unbeaten in District 20 play Wednesday by defeating Granada Hills West, 15-6, at Granada Hills High.

First baseman Mike Muir was four for five and Doug Dean added three hits for Chatsworth.

Chatsworth leads the Western Division with a 6-0 record. Granada Hills lost its second game in a row to fall to 5-3 in the division.

Mike Petruzates doubled and tripled for Granada Hills.

In other District 20 games:

Sepulveda 8, Eagle Rock 6--Justin Bass was two for three and drove in two runs to lead Sepulveda (7-0) at Occidental College in a game that was called after six innings because of darkness.

Panorama City 6, Palmdale 4--J.T. Billingslea, Kirk Fellows, Shad Ortiz and Tommy Nickels each had two hits for Panorama City at Palmdale High.

Jorge Dorado pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh to earn the save for Panorama City (6-1).

Sun Valley 11, Woodland Hills East 2--Marlon McKinney was three for four to lead Sun Valley at Taft High. Gabe Chavez and Raul Torres each added two hits for Sun Valley (5-2). Torres (1-1) allowed two runs through six innings to earn the victory.

Agoura-Oak Park 11, North Hollywood 0--Jason Kane was three for four and drove in four runs at Oak Park in a game called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.

Brian Spina and Ed Gillis each had two hits and two runs batted in for Agoura-Oak Park (5-4).

West Hills 9, Burbank South 6--Trailing, 6-3, West Hills scored six runs with two out in the bottom of the sixth at Chaminade.

With the score tied, 6-6, Bryan LaCour hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to give West Hills (3-6) the victory.

Glendale 18, Reseda 1--John Aguilar, Rob Walley and Aaron Erickson each had three hits to pace an 18-hit attack in a game at Reseda that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Granada Hills East 9, Newhall-Saugus 2--Granada Hills took advantage of five first-inning errors at Saugus High. Right-hander Doug Maggiora, who allowed two earned runs, took the loss for Newhall-Saugus (2-4). Granada Hills East is 4-6.

Encino-Crespi 2, Lancaster 1 (10 innings)--Javier Avila scored the winning run when Lancaster’s right fielder dropped Vic Seper’s two-out fly ball in the bottom of the 10th at Valley College.

DISTRICT 16

Camarillo 16, Conejo B 2--Dan Haas had three hits and was the winning pitcher for Camarillo, which scored 10 times in the first inning at Moorpark College.

Mike Muncy, John Freedman and Ralph Guillen each had three hits for Camarillo (8-0).

Conejo A 7, Newbury Park 5--Trailing by a run, Conejo parlayed two errors and a base hit into three runs in the top of the seventh at Newbury Park.

Jim Chergey had three hits and Ryan Kritscher and Mike Moore each added two for Conejo A (3-2).

Jeff Hook had three hits for Newbury Park (3-3).
