OUTLOOK

Sure, the defending Southern Section Division I champions have only five starters back, but look for the Cubs to be tough again. Loyola always seems to replace what it lost. Gone is quarterback Corby Smith, but enter Boccato, who led the sophomores to a 9-0 record. “He’ll be nervous at first, but we think he’ll develop into an very good quarterback,” Grady said. “He has a strong arm, and he’s accurate. Most important, he’s smart.” Vanis should take plenty of pressure off Boccato. A tough runner, he gained more than 1,000 yards last season and should carry more of a load this season. Stonehouse is effective as a punter and kicker, with a range of up to 50 yards on field goals. The defense is a question. Porter and Voyne are the only starters back from a unit that allowed only 8.4 points per game. “We don’t have a lot of Division I-type players, but we do have a bunch of guys who love to play,” Grady said.
