OUTLOOK

The Coyotes have the best returning talent and were favored by four of the league’s six coaches to win the league after qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in 12 years last season. Luczaj, who turned around Fullerton’s program in the early 1980s, is using the same winning formula to revitalize Buena Park. Luczaj, 37, designed a new school logo, altered the traditional Kelly green uniforms and built a weight room in his first season. “The biggest thing was overcoming the losing attitude,” he said. “We’re still fighting it. But the players learned that a great work ethic goes hand-in-hand with success.” Gavin Molinar was an All-Southern Section selection at offensive tackle and running back Angel Barrios benefited from Molinar’s blocking, gaining 1,065 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns in 10 regular-season games. Jim Schoales, an all-league guard last year, moves to center this season.
