Balanced Attack Tips the Scales in Hawks’ Favor

MISSION VIEJO — Laguna Hills utilized a balanced offense and solid defense for a 27-7 nonleague victory over San Clemente Friday night at Mission Viejo High School.
Laguna Hills (2-0) took a 14-0 lead in the first half on a 37-yard scoring run by Sergio Jimenez and a 12-yard scoring pass from Mike Maceranka to Ryan Geyer.
The defense did the rest for Laguna Hills. The Hawks recorded seven sacks of San Clemente quarterback Morgan Bannister in the first half, three by Rafer Kingston.
San Clemente (0-2) couldn’t get on track offensively. The Tritons had 26 yards in the first half.
Laguna Hills added another touchdown midway through the third quarter on a 14-yard pass from Maceranka to Chris Baedecker.
The Hawks’ final score came on a 13-yard touchdown run by Fred Kim early in the fourth quarter.
San Clemente scored its only touchdown on a nine-yard pass from Bannister to Ryan Scott.
