ROUNDUP : Kocur Sets Record in Water Polo Win

Junior Jack Kocur set a school career record for goals in leading Royal High to a 19-5 win over visiting Thousand Oaks and giving the Highlanders (21-3) their 11th consecutive Marmonte League championship. Kocur scored four goals to give him 137, breaking the mark of 133 set by Devin Hurst.

In another water polo match:

Harvard-Westlake 22, St. Francis 2--Mark Townsend scored three goals to lead the Wolverines (24-3, 8-0) in a San Fernando League match at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center.

HIGH SCHOOL CROSS-COUNTRY

Foothill League finals--The Hart High boys’ and girls’ teams each won their ninth league title in a row by placing seven runners among the top 10 at San Gabriel. The Hart boys totaled 20 points to outdistance San Gabriel (48) and Alhambra (92). Paul De La Cerda finished second in 15 minutes 11 seconds.

The Indians also tallied 20 points in the girls’ race. Burbank was second with 52 and San Gabriel third with 95. Hart sophomore Jessica De La Cerda (18:23) and freshman Krissy Schranz (18:47) finished 1-2 ahead of Christina Ayuso (19:13) of Burbank.

MEN’S SOCCER

Cal State Northridge 3, Grand Canyon 2 (OT)--Danny Daniels scored the winning goal on an assist from Armando Valdivia late in the first overtime period. Trailing, 2-1, early in the first overtime, Northridge (12-6-1) tied the match on Valdivia’s second goal.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Campbell Hall d. Whitney, 15-11, 15-7, 15-2--Dana Peterson had eight kills and Lina Rackauskas had seven to lead Campbell Hall in a match for third place in the Delphic League. Campbell Hall (11-7, 10-5) advances to the Southern Section playoffs.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Pierce d. Canyons, 7-15, 15-0, 12-15, 15-10, 15-5--Jeannie Lane had 14 kills and Stephanie Burns added 11 for host Pierce (12-6, 11-4) in a Western State Conference match.
