University Rolls Past Saddleback to Tie for Fourth

IRVINE — Sammy Hunt scored two touchdowns to lead University High School to a 36-0 Sea View League victory over Saddleback Friday night at Irvine High School.
Hunt rushed for 86 yards in 16 carries for the Trojans, who finished in a fourth-place tie with Saddleback with a 2-3 Sea View League record.
The Trojans (5-5) took a 7-0 lead when Todd Anderson ran 34 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. Quarterback Chris Peake scored from one yard out with 4 minutes 4 seconds remaining in the second quarter to give University a 14-0 lead. Hunt’s three-yard touchdown run with 1:06 left in the first half made the score 20-0.
Hunt scored from two yards out with 8:26 left in the third quarter to give the Trojans a 26-0 lead. Scott MacDermott connected with Nguyen Hang on a two-point conversion to put the Trojans ahead, 28-0.
University took a 34-0 advantage when Donnell Dowdy recovered a fumble and raced 75 yards for a score with 4:01 left in the third quarter.
The Trojans’ Brian Garbutt tackled Adolfo Ornelas in the end zone for a safety to give University its final points.
