Los Alamitos to Offer Twin Trifecta Wagering
Los Alamitos will become the first track in California to offer Twin Trifecta wagering, after gaining approval from the California Horse Racing Board on Friday.
Los Alamitos will begin offering the wager Wednesday. The Twin Trifecta will be held on the sixth and eighth races each night. The bettor must select the first three finishers in exact order in two races. After the sixth race, half of the trifecta pool will be paid out to holders of winning tickets, and the other half of the pool will be carried over to the eighth race. Only those bettors with winning tickets from the sixth race will be able to play the second half of the Twin Trifecta in the eighth race.
Bettors with winning tickets from the sixth race will be asked to make their selections for the eighth race when they cash their winning ticket. If there are no winners in the second half of the Twin Trifecta, the pool will carry over to the next race night. When the Twin Trifecta carryover pool reaches $100,000, the entire pool will be paid out the next racing night. The minimum wager for the Twin Trifecta will be $2. The Twin Trifecta has been popular at tracks in Arizona, Iowa, New Mexico, Delaware, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Los Alamitos will continue to offer its regular trifecta race, scheduled as the 10th race each night.
