HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Antelope Valley Shocks Saugus Behind Shooting of Flakes, 61-54

Rodney Flakes made a pair of three-point baskets in the fourth quarter to lead Antelope Valley High to a shocking 61-54 upset over host Saugus in a Golden League game Tuesday night.

Saugus (16-8, 5-4 in league play) led by six points with four minutes remaining, but Antelope Valley (8-15, 2-7) embarked on a 17-7 run to take the lead.

Steve Tampus led Saugus with 26 points. Flakes scored 18 points for Antelope Valley, which won its second game in a row.

Ridgecrest Burroughs 70, Palmdale 43--Senior Erick Stone scored 20 points in a Golden League game at Ridgecrest.

Glendale 61, Arcadia 44--Mike Wright had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Glendale (14-11, 4-5) in a Pacific League game.

Glendale outscored Arcadia, 18-2, in the fourth quarter. Hai Tran scored 17 points and David Sofro added 14.

Muir 70, Hoover 61--Dave McIntire scored 22 points and Dwayne Curtis added 15 to lead host Muir (17-8, 9-0) in a Pacific League game. Dave Ulloa scored 20 points and Chad Reese added 17 for Hoover (12-11, 4-5).

Hart 89, San Gabriel 53--Ali Peek scored 31 points to lead the Indians (15-9, 7-2) past San Gabriel (15-9, 3-6) in a Foothill League game.

Alhambra 74, Burbank 66--In a Foothill League game, host Burbank trimmed a 16-point deficit to three in the fourth quarter before falling. Tyson Helsley scored 19 points and David Ranney added 18 for Burbank (6-16, 3-6).

Montclair Prep 77, Village Christian 45--In an Alpha League game at Village Christian, Steve Cain scored a team-high 17 points to lead Montclair Prep (23-1, 9-0) to its 21st consecutive victory.

David Fennell had 19 points and seven blocked shots for Village Christian (10-13, 5-4).

Fillmore 77, Nordhoff 74--Danny Ocegueda scored a game-high 28 points and Rudy Alcantar had 27 to lead the upset by host Fillmore (7-16, 1-6) in a Frontier League game. Tim Sebek had 28 points for Nordhoff (13-8, 3-4).

La Salle 62, Harvard-Westlake 60--Dan Miyake’s 10-foot shot at the buzzer lifted La Salle (17-6, 3-6) over Harvard-Westlake (13-6, 6-3) in a San Fernando League game.

Faith Baptist 68, Whitney 39--Faith Baptist scored 32 points in the fourth quarter at Gahr High to remain in a first-place tie with Crossroads in the Delphic League.

Etienne Moore led the Contenders with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Paraclete 43, Bishop 42--Brian Lathrop made a free throw with three seconds remaining to break a 42-42 tie and hand host Paraclete (11-11, 5-4) a win in a Desert-Inyo Large League game.

Holy Martyrs 67, Providence 45--Robert Momjian and Sako Balian combined to score 50 points and lead host Holy Martyrs (14-7, 7-2) in a Liberty League game.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Thousand Oaks 78, Royal 31--Michelle Palmisano scored her 2,500th career point during the first quarter, then finished with a game-high 34 points to lead Thousand Oaks (22-1, 12-0) in a Marmonte League game.

Westlake 60, Newbury Park 28--Lauren Goldstine had 26 points and 10 rebounds as visiting Westlake (19-4, 11-1) won a Marmonte League game.

Palmdale 55, Ridgecrest Burroughs 43--Kim Schielke scored 25 points to lead host Palmdale (18-7, 9-0), which wrapped up its fourth consecutive Golden League title.

Alemany 56, St. Paul 35--Zevette Mitchell scored 13 points and Rachel Corelli added 10 to help the Indians (20-4, 8-1) clinch a share of the Mission League title.

Glendale 59, Arcadia 40--Senior forward Jenny Dalton scored 20 points and added 15 rebounds to lead Glendale in a Pacific League game at home. Alicia Zamparelli added a season-high 14 points for Glendale (18-7, 8-1).

Chaminade 48, Bishop Montgomery 47--Katy Bloodgood’s winning shot at the buzzer finished a 12-4 run in the fourth quarter for Chaminade (16-8, 5-4) in a Mission League game. Aubrey Tompkins scored 18 points for the Eagles, who trailed, 35-23, at halftime.

Simi Valley 60, Agoura 38--Nikki Spindler had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Heather Eubanks added 11 points to lead the Pioneers (9-12, 5-7) in a Marmonte League game.

Nordhoff 42, Fillmore 34--Gretchen Wachter scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half, leading the host Rangers (13-8, 3-4) in a Frontier League game. Jamie Arundell scored a game-high 22 points for Fillmore (13-9, 2-5).

St. Bonaventure 57, Bishop Diego 31--April Godfrey had 12 points and 22 rebounds and teammate Denice Babby added 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead St. Bonaventure (11-10, 6-3) in a Tri-Valley League game at Bishop Diego.

Oak Park 44, Moorpark 38--Jodi Runyan scored a game-high 14 points to lead Oak Park (12-8, 7-2) in a Tri-Valley League game.

San Gabriel 55, Hart 54--Lorlie Downen scored 24 points for Hart in a Foothill League game.

Holy Martyrs 54, Providence 27--Aline Altibarmakian scored 10 points to lead Holy Martyrs (19-2, 9-0) past visiting Providence in a Liberty League game.
