Poway 94, Vista 71--Poway, which raced to a 24-9 first-quarter lead, had six players in double figure scoring--Kyle Milling (26), Mitch Palmer (14), Brian Nietz (13), Todd Fortney (12), Chad Wellon (11) and Justin Kruse (10)--as the sixth-ranked Titans (19-8, 8-5) had a season-high 94 points. Milling also had 13 rebounds and Palmer eight. Jason Barnes scored 22 and Shane Jager 18 for No. 5 Vista (15-9, 9-4).

Fallbrook 70, San Dieguito 65--The Mustangs outscored 10th-ranked Fallbrook, 28-15, as they tried to rally back in the fourth quarter. But Chris Miller (25 points) kept Fallbrook (13-9, 8-5) in front by making eight of nine free throws in the period. San Dieguito (8-14, 2-11), which was outscored 24-9 and 18-7 in the first and third periods, surged behind David Damian (25 points) and Matt Bullock (16 points, 11 in the fourth quarter).

Rancho Buena Vista 68, Orange Glen 50--Rancho Buena Vista got 18 points from Evan Osmundson and 14 from Abe Ajlouny. The Longhorns (10-16, 3-10) extended their half-court trap defense in the second half and outscored Orange Glen, 36-21, over the final 16 minutes. Brian Morsch led the Patriots (2-21, 0-13) with 24 points.

Avocado League

Oceanside 48, Rancho Bernardo 42--Oceanside led 18-5 and 30-14 after the first two quarters, then held off Rancho Bernardo (15-9, 8-5) for the upset. Larry Tanner led the Pirates (10-13, 6-7) with 11 points.

San Pasqual 61, Escondido 59--The Cougars led by 17 after they outscored rival San Pasqual, 24-9, in the third quarter then became error-prone and watched the Golden Eagles outscore them, 26-9, in the fourth period. Ernie Silva had 20 points for San Pasqual (10-14, 7-7), while Damian Cephas finished with 23 for Escondido (9-13, 4-9).

Carlsbad 75, Ramona 56--Kewan Shariff scored 19 of his game-high 27 points in the first quarter, and Chad Nelson made four three-pointers en route to 16 points as No. 4 Carlsbad (19-6, 13-0) coasted. Cody Cunningham scored 23 and Rusty Hoss 21 for Ramona (6-15, 2-11).

El Camino 77, San Marcos 48--Ninth-ranked El Camino (18-7, 11-2) had little trouble with the Knights, opening up an 18-8 lead then increasing that to 38-19 by halftime. Tyrone Butler led the Wildcats with 13 points and eight rebounds. Teammates Chris Crayton added 12 points, Sky Harrison 11 and Trey Crayton 10. San Marcos (5-16, 2-11) got 16 points from Horace Corey.

City Central League

Lincoln 86, Madison 58--The Hornets wrapped up their seventh consecutive Central League championship and won their 55th league game in a row after they jumped out to a 16-0 lead. No. 8 Lincoln (18-8, 7-0) got 21 points, 17 rebounds, seven blocks, six steals and six assists from Berry Randle, who fouled out with 4:50 to play. The Warhawks, led by Matt Baker’s 23 points, fell to 14-11, 6-2.

San Diego 94, Crawford 54--San Diego opened up a 45-27 halftime lead then coasted with senior guard Marcos Soto getting 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Roman Diaz added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Pernell Burgin nine points and eight assists for the Cavers (11-9, 4-3). Crawford is 3-19, 0-7.

City Eastern League

Morse 64, Mira Mesa 61--The Tigers battled back from 21-13 at the end of the first quarter and 31-27 at halftime to win the game and the league championship. Morse (17-5, 7-1) stopped two Mira Mesa scoring chances in the final 1:06. Byron Steele had 19 and Tony Martin to lead the Tigers. Ryan Cunningham led the Marauders (15-9, 2-5) with 26 points and 14 rebounds.

Serra 59, Patrick Henry 26--Nothing could fall for the Patriots (4-16, 0-7), who scored six in the first quarter, six in the second and four in the third as Serra easily improved to 13-6, 5-2. Tony Etheridge had 14 and Darryl Van Cleave 11 for the Conquistadors.

City Harbor League

Clairemont 71, Christian 59--Clairemont broke open a close game with a 22-11 third-quarter run to hand Christian, which started the year at 17-4, its third loss in a row. Rassan Brown scored 24 and John Brady 18 to lead Clairemont (9-12, 4-3). Pat Keough had 14, including four three-point baskets, for the Patriots (17-7, 4-4), who made seven three-pointers in the final three minutes to make it close.

City Western League

USDHS 63, La Jolla 50--USDHS, which outscored La Jolla, 22-8, in the second quarter, spoiled the Vikings’ chance to tie for the league title. Jon Fink had 11 points and seven blocks for the Dons (5-15, 2-5). La Jolla is 10-12, 4-3.

University City 50, Mission Bay 46--The Buccaneers, who have lost 10 games by six points or less, made seven of nine free throws in the fourth quarter but couldn’t catch the Centurions and Trevon Brown, who finished with 27 points. Brown hit four three-pointers and had 20 points in the first half. Chris Smith had 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for Mission Bay (7-17, 1-6). UC is now 13-9, 4-4.

Metro Conference

Sweetwater 66, Chula Vista 61--Sweetwater made six of six free throws in the final 1:58 to seal the victory. Guillermo Sanchez made four three-pointers and finished with 30 points for the Red Devils (10-15, 8-5). County scoring leader Jerome Green had 36 points and five three-pointers, and Andy Duran had 13 rebounds for Chula Vista (16-10, 9-4).

Castle Park 71, Southwest 65--Castle Park built a 55-43 lead going into the fourth quarter, then held off a late Southwest charge. Bobby Stanton’s 25 points and Willis Odom’s 19 points and nine rebounds led the Trojans (12-10, 8-5). Tony Diaz and Bobby Martinez each scored 20 for Southwest (12-11, 8-5).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

City Harbor League

Christian 78, Clairemont 30--Tiffany Stutz, second in the county in scoring, scored 31 points in only two quarters, and teammate Stephanie Chadwell added 15 as Christian (16-5, 7-1) clinched the league title. Corra Detti had 15 points for Clairemont (1-15, 0-7).

Nonleague

Point Loma 57, Hoover 35--No. 7 Point Loma (20-3) got 15 points from Sharinda Hunter and 12 each from Lisa Griego, Sara Baczynski and Tinyetta Hunter. Griego also had eight steals. Staley Rhone also scored 12 for Hoover (7-15).
