HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Mira Mesa Wins Warhawk Title for Third Year in a Row

Share

Mira Mesa left-hander Brendan Hause is one of the top baseball players in the San Diego Section. If there were any doubters at Madison High, there aren’t any today.

Hause pitched a four-hitter and struck out 14 to lift Mira Mesa to a 7-0 victory over Madison (5-2) in the championship game of the Warhawk Tournament, the third consecutive year Mira Mesa (7-1) has won the tournament.

The game was played at San Diego State’s Smith Field.

Hause (3-0) didn’t walk a batter, and he got offensive support from throughout the batting order.

Jason Payne had a two-run double and a single and scored once; Bobby Arban, batting seventh, went two for four with an RBI; and Daryle Owen, batting eighth, drove in the third run of the third inning to give Mira Mesa some breathing room.

“(Owen’s) only been with us about a week because of soccer practice,” Mira Mesa Coach Mike Prosser said. “With that run, it took (Madison) three baserunners to tie the game and put us in a position where we could relax.”

TRACK AND FIELD

Southern Conference

Bishop’s 81, Santa Fe Christian 51--Santa Fe Christian’s Daryl Dalton won the 100 meters with a time of 11.1. Dalton’s hand time was 11.02, which will be recorded that way as a school record. Two facts set Dalton’s time apart: He’s a sophomore, and he also participates in the throws. He won both the shot put and the discus. Both marks were unspectacluar (43-10, 124-11 respectively), but more than respectable for a sophomore sprinter.
