Mollison, a right-handed power pitcher, overwhelmed Rancho Alamitos’ two Garden Grove League opponents last week. She didn’t allow a hit in a 3-0 victory over Santiago and in an 8-0 victory over Los Amigos. Mollison, who has only allowed three earned runs in 85 2/3 innings for an 0.25 earned-run average, struck out 13 against Santiago. Against Los Amigos, she struck out 17 of the 24 batters she faced. She struck out the side four times, including in the seventh inning, when she struck out four after one of her strikeout victims reached first on a passed ball. With the victories, Rancho Alamitos has now won three consecutive Garden Grove League games and moved into a third-place tie with Kennedy. “We have trouble getting runs, but Destiny keeps us in there every time,” Rancho Alamitos Coach John Brierly said.

Other top performers:

Leah Braatz, who was six for seven with two home runs, a double, a triple and nine RBIs in Estancia’s softball victories over Laguna Beach and Century. Against Century she pitched a one-hitter in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

Sauci Hayes, who hit three home runs--two in the second inning--and had four RBIs in Laguna Hills’ 16-4 victory over Century. She also had a two-run single in a 6-5 victory over Trabuco Hills.
