Mater Dei’s Kobata Pitches Perfect Game

Terri Kobata pitched a perfect game in Mater Dei’s 1-0 victory over Garden Grove in the first game of a nonleague softball doubleheader Saturday at Garden Grove.

It was the second no-hitter of the season for Kobata (6-0), a right-handed senior. The game was scoreless until the top half of the seventh inning when Kim Fox drove in the winning run with a single.

Mater Dei (12-1-1), the top-ranked team in Orange County, won the second game, 8-0. Mater Dei catcher Jennifer Kline had a home run in the second game. Garden Grove is 14-7-1.
