In a Division 3-A quarterfinal:
Esperanza 3, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 1--Brad Goldston and Paul Nihipali each had 14 kills for the visiting Aztecs (15-2), who won, 15-8, 4-15, 15-2, 15-7. Esperanza plays Simi Valley Royal, a 15-11, 15-11, 15-3 winner over El Modena, in Wednesday’s semifinals.
In a Division 2-A quarterfinal:
Calvary Chapel 3, Carpinteria Cate 0--Dan Neumann had 30 kills and Matt Beeman added 18 for Calvary Chapel (9-7), which advances to Wednesday’s semifinals against Valley Christian.
