SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL PLAYOFFS : Top-Ranked Diamond Bar Plays El Dorado in Semifinal

El Dorado will meet the nation’s top-ranked team, Diamond Bar, at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cal State Fullerton in the semifinals of the Southern Section 4-A baseball playoffs. Bishop Amat will play Long Beach Millikan in the second game at 7 p.m.

Diamond Bar (27-1) is ranked No. 1 in the nation by Baseball America and is seeking to become the first top-seeded team to win the division in 21 years. Diamond Bar eliminated El Dorado in the second round of last year’s playoffs, 5-4.

All semifinal games will be played at alternate sites. Games involving county schools, with starting times at 3:15 p.m. unless noted:

Division 5-A

Diamond Bar (27-1) vs. El Dorado (28-5) at Cal State Fullerton, 4 p.m.

Division 4-A

Covina Northview (19-5) vs. Irvine (19-10) at Rancho Santiago College

West Covina South Hills (18-9) vs. Savanna (15-13) at Glover Stadium

Division 3-A

Corona (17-13) vs. Tustin (20-7) at Christ College Irvine

Small Schools Division

Calvary Chapel (14-7) vs. Pasadena Poly (19-3) at San Marino High
