Coach: Dick Fumanti (fifth year).
1991: 18-5-1, 7-1 in league; lost to Los Alamitos, 12-6, in the Southern Section 2-A finals; won second consecutive Angelus League championship.
Key returners: Joyce Cruz, Sr., was 58-2 last year; Mandy Gomez, Sr., combines with Cruz to give Rosary a tremendous one-two punch; Jennifer Chei, Jr., excellent doubles player; Bonnie Neri, Sr., teamed with Chei at No. 1 doubles in ‘91, but probably will have a new partner; Ashleigh Aitken, Sr., fourth year on varsity; Erin DiNuncio, Jr., coming back from rotator cuff injury.
Key newcomers: Michelle Cornman, Jr.; Candace Jan, Jr.; Patricia Meinberg, So.; Raina Paquillo, So.; Karine Scmczak, So.
Outlook: Moving up from Division 2-A (now Division III) to Division II might be troublesome for some teams, but not for the two-time Angelus League champion Royals. Not with their personnel. Now in the realigned Sunset League, Rosary features seven experienced players, but Fumanti is being cautious. “We’ll be competitive but we’ll have to work harder,” he said.
