Coach: Debbie Fleming (eighth year).

1991: 23-0, 10-0 in league; won the Southern Section 2-A title with a 12-6 victory over Rosary; won the Empire League for the fifth consecutive season.

Key returners: Susan Huberman, Sr., was 60-14 at No. 1 singles last season; Laura Westphal, Sr., who moves from No. 3 to No. 2 singles; Erica Ladney, Jr., returns at No. 1 doubles with new partner; Sheri Moore, Jr., might play doubles or No. 3 singles; Kim Grajeda, Sr., teamed with Moore in doubles last year; Michelle Schneider, So., a doubles player who’ll see a lot of action.

Key newcomers: Laura Springosky, So.; Erin White, Fr.

Outlook: With four quality seniors back, Fleming could be looking at another league title. The Griffins were dominant in Division 2-A the past two years, finishing second to Sunny Hills in 1990 and winning it all last season. The divisions have been renamed, so the Empire League is now in Division III. But Fleming still has her sight on a third trip to the finals. “It’ll be interesting with releaguing to see which teams might come down (to Division III),” she said.
