Michelle Diana kicked the first field goal of her varsity career, from 24 yards with 90 seconds to play, to cap a wild, fourth-quarter comeback and give Cleveland High a 25-22 win over Fairfax in a nonleague game Friday night at Cleveland.
Cleveland (0-1), which trailed 22-7, at the end of the third quarter, narrowed its deficit to 22-13 when Caron Lewis (123 yards in 15 carries) scored on a three-yard run to cap a nine-yard drive after an interception.
The Cavaliers drove 56 yards for a touchdown on their next possession, capped by Derrick Dumas’ 43-yard touchdown pass from Jachin Jenkins.
Cleveland tied the score, 22-22, with 7 minutes 25 seconds left when a bad snap from center on a Fairfax punt went out of the end zone.
