COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Defeats Marymount in Soccer, 8-0

Seven players scored as Cypress College beat Marymount, 8-0, in a nonconference men’s soccer match Tuesday at Cypress College.

Tate Swindell had two goals, and George Charlesworth, Luis Cueva, Todd Gibson, Brian Dacuycuy, Rick Penaloza and Greg Keel scored one each for the Chargers, who led at half, 7-0.

Eight goals is a single-match high this season for Cypress (2-3), which came into Tuesday’s play having scored six goals in its first four games.

Harold Salazar had one save in the first half and Ken Putnam another in the second for Cypress.

In other nonconference men’s soccer matches:

Glendale 2, Fullerton 2--Jaime Garcia scored in the first half and Jaysn Ochs scored in the second for host Fullerton (3-2-2). Glendale is 1-1-1.

Mt. San Antonio 5, Golden West 0--Jose Rodriquez had two goals for Mt. San Antonio (2-2-1). Goalkeeper Jason Corder had seven saves for Golden West (3-3).

In nonconference water polo:

Rio Hondo 13, Rancho Santiago 11 (OT)--Jeremy Yorba scored six goals for visiting Rancho Santiago (6-3), which led, 9-7, after three quarters but couldn’t hold on.

Adam Delgado scored five goals for Rio Hondo (7-2).
