Kotsay shredded the Artesia defense for 209 yards in nine carries and four touchdowns as he led his team to a 50-30 nonleague win. The Chiefs’ quarterback also threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Along with his quarterback duties, Kotsay does the team’s punting, averaging 37.7 yards a punt. Coach Jack Mahlstede says, “He (Kotsay) may be the best player in our division (Division VI). Last year he led the team to the playoffs for the first time in 14 years and I expect him to do it again this year.”

Joseph Baldwin, the Dominguez Dons’ running back, gained 163 yards and scored two touchdowns as he led his team to a 22-0 win over San Gabriel Valley League opponent Gahr High of Cerritos.

Ryan Williams, the St. John Bosco running back, carried the ball for 193 yards and scored three touchdowns as he led the Braves to their first victory of the year, 39-14, over Santa Monica.
