Palomar Amasses 701 Yards, Wins

SAN MARCOS — Palomar College gained 701 yards on offense, its second-highest total ever, and scored 58-36 Mission Conference victory over Cerritos (4-2, 3-2) Saturday at San Marcos High School. The Comets are 4-1, 3-1.
Fallbrook’s Tony Burton rushed 19 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns, and Rancho Buena Vista’s Markeith Ross rushed 19 times for 136 yards and two scores.
The nation’s leading passer, Torrey Pines’ Tom Luginbill, was 21 for 30 for 385 yards and touchdowns of 45 and 46 yards.
San Pasqual’s Daryl Hawkins caught eight passes for 105 yards. John Livingston had seven for 170 and two touchdowns.
