OUTLOOK

Cazett’s longing for a return to Foothill must have been strong. He left Savanna, which reached the Southern Section Division II--A quarterfinals and finished second to Brea-Olinda in the Orange League, to take over a team that won once last season. Cazett served as a girls’ varsity assistant at Foothill from 1989-91 and has already endured a 76-8 loss to Estancia this season. He has no illusions about the 1992-93 season, and the Knights have started slowly, losing their first four games. “Two years from now, I want us to reach our peak,” Cazett said. “We have quite a few freshmen who will play.” Freshmen Fries and Steinle will see significant playing time along with the Roberts sisters, both returning starters. Kooi, a sophomore post player, has shown promise, scoring 13 points in a 40-35 loss to Laguna Beach in the first round of the Santa Ana Valley tournament. Churnock, a standout from the softball team, should also contribute. “Basically, I hope we just improve as we go along,” Cazett said. “When you have new players every year, it’s hard to build a program.”
