Loyola Loses at SW Louisiana Before Record Crowd of 11,453

Michael Allen scored 29 points to lead Southwestern Louisiana to an 87-73 victory over Loyola Marymount on Wednesday night.

Before a record home crowd of 11,453, the Ragin’ Cajuns (1-1) jumped out to a 15-point halftime lead and held off a comeback attempt by the Lions (2-3), who cut the lead to six points three times in the final three minutes.

Allen scored 17 points in the second half, including 14 in the final 8:20, and had five three-pointers in the game.

Todd Hill added 14 points for Southwestern Louisiana.

Rahim Harris led Loyola Marymount with 17 points.

Southwestern Louisiana led by as many as 18 points in the first five minutes of the second half, before Loyola cut the margin to six points twice on three-point goals by Brian McCloskey and Christian Scott.

Loyola’s next game is Saturday at Cal State Sacramento.
