In a rematch of the 1992 Southern Section Division I final, the Santa Barbara High boys’ tennis team defeated Peninsula, 11-7, Wednesday at the Knowlwood Tennis Club in Montecito to win its sixth consecutive team championship and eleventh overall.

Alex Decret, Santa Barbara’s No. 1 singles player, gave the Dons their only victories in singles. Santa Barbara (23-1) won eight of nine doubles sets.

Decret, a senior, defeated Loren Peters, 6-2; Kyle Spencer, 6-2; and Dennis Chang, 6-2.

“I think that (Decret) was our real catalyst,” said Jack Trigueiro, Santa Barbara coach. “He played extremely well.”
