1992: Freeway League champions, third place in Southern Section III-AA.
Key returners: Jeff Domis, Sr.; Chuck Gatchell, Jr.; Jason Kolb, Jr.; Brendon Mahon, Sr.; Brian Mahon, Jr.; Chris Zepeda, Sr.
Key newcomers: John McKay, Jr.; Joe Zizi, Jr.
Outlook: Winkleman’s crew returns six of seven from 1992, so expect the success to continue at La Habra. Brendon Mahon was an individual qualifier for the State championships last season after finishing third in the Division III-AA championships. Mahon is the second leading returner in the III-A division after finishing third in last year’s finals. Domis and Gatchell are also two of the section’s finest, ranking among the division’s top 10. Brian Mahon, a junior and Brendon’s younger brother, along with Kolb and Zepeda also return from among the Highlanders’ top seven from 1992. Juniors Zizi and McKay will both see action in the seventh spot for the defending Freeway League champions. La Habra will be looking for a State meet bid after missing by only two points to La Puente in 1992.
