Orange Lutheran Can’t Pass Its First Test

Quarterback Rich Fuentes passed for 187 yards and two touchdowns to lead Rancho Cucamonga past Orange Lutheran, 38-3, in a nonleague football opener Thursday night at Chaffey High School.

Fuentes put the Cougars on the board early with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Curtis Reed, capitalizing on a fumbled snap by Orange Lutheran punter Brandon Back. Jeremy Chilton added a one-yard touchdown run to give Rancho Cucamonga a 14-0 with 3 minutes 54 seconds left in the first quarter.

Prep football--Matt Stratton kicked the 46-yard field goal Thursday night for Orange Lutheran in its 38-3 loss to Rancho Cucamonga.

Orange Lutheran’s only score came on a 46-yard field goal by Lance Matlock.

The Cougars answered with a 31-yard field goal by Ryan Stickel, then scored on a 44-yard touchdown pass from Fuentes to Johnny Starks for a 24-3 lead with 28 seconds to play in the first half.

Fuentes added a two-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
