Saddleback, Fr.
Football / Wide receiver
Stone, an All-Freeway League performer last season at Buena Park High School, had just nine catches in Saddleback’s first six games. But in the seventh game, a 31-27 victory over San Diego Mesa Saturday, Stone caught seven passes for 218 yards and a touchdown. He had receptions that gained 66, 54, and 53 yards. His 218 yards were 14 short of the Saddleback single-game record of 232 set by Scott Miller in 1988. Miller went on to play at UCLA and is with the Miami Dolphins.
Other notables:
* Donnie Bladow of Rancho Santiago rushed for a career-high 236 yards and scored four touchdowns in the 45-31 victory over Southwestern.
* Eric Gaunt of Golden West won his 177-pound match, 7-3, over Trent Williams of Cuesta at the North/South state wrestling meet Saturday.
