In other Division II first-round games:

La Habra 10, Montebello 8--Bryan Vaden scored six goals to lead La Habra (18-8), which will play fourth-seeded Esperanza, a 15-3 winner over Glendale, in the second round.

Los Alamitos 11, Riverside Arlington 8--Tim Sylvester scored four goals and Eric Ploessel added three to lead Los Alamitos, which will play Rowland Heights Rowland in the second round Friday. Dan Richmand and Joey Pratt each had three goals for Arlington.

Marina 12, Whittier 4--Spencer Miller and Eric Larson each scored three goals for Marina (17-9), which will play Simi Valley Royal, a 12-5 winner over San Luis Obispo, in the second round.

Riverside Poly 28, Troy 5--Top-seeded Riverside Poly advanced to the second round to play Whittier California.

Rowland Heights Rowland 16, Fountain Valley 13--Senior Eric Best finished his high school career with eight goals to push his season total to 73 for Fountain Valley (14-13).

Sunny Hills 15, Alhambra 3--Seann Shiele scored six goals and Carlo Franzia added three for the second-seeded Lancers (20-8) at Independence Park and will play Agoura in the second round Friday.

In a Division IV wild-card game:

Bolsa Grande 14, Cerritos Whitney 9--Bolsa Grande advanced to the first round Friday at fourth-seeded Palos Verdes Chadwick.

In the first round of the girls’ tennis Division I playoffs:

El Toro 9, Westlake 9 (El Toro on wins on games 74-64)--El Toro won eight of nine singles sets, but Stephanie Maldini and Jenny Le won the decisive last doubles set. El Toro will play Thursday’s winner of top-seeded Palos Verdes Peninsula and Santa Margarita in the second round Tuesday.
