The dream of reaching a Southern Section final continues today for four South Bay teams involved in semifinal-round playoff competition.

In girls’ volleyball, top-seeded Torrance (17-3) meets fourth-seeded Canyon of Canyon Country at 7 p.m. in a Division III match at South Torrance High. The Tartars, pursuing their second consecutive Division III title, rallied for an 11-15, 15-11, 9-15, 15-7, 15-8 victory over Arroyo Grande on Tuesday.

Contrary to a report in The Times last week, Torrance setter Nicole Dispenza has been reinstated after serving a school-enforced suspension. In Tuesday’s victory, Tami Burchard led the Tartars with 25 kills.

Tonight’s volleyball winners will advance to divisional finals Saturday at Cerritos College.

Peninsula’s domination of Southland girls’ tennis competition continued Tuesday with a 17-1 Division I quarterfinal victory over El Toro, extending its three-year record to 70-0. The Panthers (20-0) play host to fourth-seeded Corona del Mar at 2 p.m. today.

In Division IV tennis, second-seeded Chadwick (15-3) plays host to Valencia of Placentia in another 2 p.m. match. The Dolphins advanced with a 10-8 victory Tuesday over Prep League rival Webb.
