Firefighter Injured in Christmas Tree Blaze
A Los Angeles firefighter was injured Sunday as he tried to extinguish a Christmas tree fire that caused $80,000 in damage to a Studio City home.
The 31-year-old firefighter, a 12-year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department, injured his back while fighting the blaze at 11520 Decente Drive. He was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where he was listed in stable condition, Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
No one was in the 2,500-square-foot house when the fire started at 11:22 a.m. It took 16 firefighters less than 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which caused $50,000 in damage to the structure and $30,000 damage to its contents.
