SEASON AT A GLANCE: Spindt, a two-year varsity starter, is a steadying force for the Indians (15-1), who are ranked first in The Times’ regional poll. A skilled ballhandler who rarely makes bad decisions, Spindt has team-leading averages of 5.7 assists and 2.1 steals. He also averages 10.6 points and 4.5 rebounds for the three-time defending Foothill League champions.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Spindt was named most valuable player of the 22nd Hart tournament after scoring 18 points and dealing out five assists in the championship game, a 67-55 victory over City Section power Manual Arts. Spindt, who was also named MVP of the Beverly Hills tournament, made nine of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter. Spindt averaged 10.5 points and 5.8 assists in Hart’s four games during the tournament. “I didn’t put up super numbers every game, but I got the job done,” Spindt said.
