Michelle Esparza and Carrie Dormire provided a few highlights for Cal State Northridge, but Cal State Dominguez Hills recorded a 73-53 nonconference victory in a women’s basketball game Monday night at Northridge.

Esparza scored a career-high 28 points and set school records with 18 free throws in 24 attempts. Regan O’Hara held the previous records with 17 free throws in 20 attempts in 1986.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Buena 76, Hueneme 48--Jon Kaplan (13 points), Robbie Knight (12) and David Nutting (11) scored in double-figures to lead host Buena (7-6, 2-1) to a Channel League victory.

Santa Barbara 71, Ventura 55--Jabbari Simmons scored 19 points for visiting Santa Barbara in a Channel League game. J.R. Kern scored a game-high 21 points for Ventura (5-8, 2-1).

Providence 52, Yeshiva 44--Senior center Scott Nelson scored a game-high 18 points and had 14 rebounds to lead host Providence (4-7, 1-2) in a Liberty League game.
