GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Monroe’s Victory a Tall Story
Canoga Park’s quickness couldn’t match up with Monroe’s size and Vikings rolled to a 57-27 victory in Valley Pac-8 Conference play Wednesday.
Monroe (8-7, 1-2 in the conference) finished with 79 rebounds.
DiMara Haymond had 14 points and 26 rebounds for the Vikings. Anna Marquez added eight points and 19 rebounds.
El Camino Real 64, Cleveland 41--Samantha Small scored 16 points for the Conquistadores in a Northwest Valley League game at Cleveland. Theresa McGuire scored 20 points for the Cavaliers.
Chatsworth 58, Granada Hills 52--Mandy Sommers’ three-pointer with two minutes left gave the Chancellors (5-3, 2-0) the lead for good in a Northwest Valley Conference game. Shanna Sasaki scored 24 points for Chatsworth.
North Hollywood 71, Poly 38--Anna Celaya had 21 points and the Huskies scored 33 points in the first quarter of a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Poly. Darvena Merritt added 19 points for North Hollywood (7-5, 3-0).
Kennedy 73, San Fernando 35--Tamaya Morris had 18 points for Kennedy (10-5, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
